Habit Changing, Cost Effective, Informative and Hard Hitting Manual Handling Training from only £450 + VAT

Is Manual Handling Training all about bending your knees and keeping your back straight?

  • How many Manual Handling Training courses have you been on with the famous saying bend your knees keep your back straight?
  • How many times does this type of training end up in failure and your workforce return to the bad habits?
  • How many times has the feedback from your employees been “just another boring manual handling training course?”
  • How many courses have you been on where the training has been delivered in a classroom with a light weight box with no real weight?
  • How many times has your workforce been confused by complicated medical jargon or a trainer trying to over complicate the subject?

We have just read an article published by the HSE that advised “Research has shown that general training in lifting techniques is an ineffective way of controlling the risks of manual handling in businesses. By getting help to change the way you work, you can reduce manual handling risks and avoid paying for ineffective or unnecessary training”

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then maybe its time to look at another provider. Since we launched, we found out that historically manual handling training has been stuck in the classroom with a lightweight box, we find this type of training is designed to tick the box. We don’t want to just tick the box we want to give the employees the chance to change their habits with engaging, fun, interactive, habit changing, friendly but assertive training that will reduce your musculoskeletal disorders and lost time incidents.

We don’t just go through technique training with the workforce, we get them to understand why injuries happen, how they happen and get them to relate with easy to understand examples which takes place in their working environments.

We give a lot more that just the famous bend your knees keep your back straight. We go through all of the thinking required (do I need to lift this, can I reduce the weight) and also get them to think on their feet with real life ways of reducing Manual Handling Risk in the workplace. We also get them to understand their duties under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and why the duties are not just on the employer but also explain how the employee can also get into trouble

We train up to 30 members of staff for only £450 + VAT and have worked with major groups that include The Royal Mint   Aston Martin Racing     Alexander Dennis    Berendsen Plc  DS Smith Plc  Essentra Plc

We are also happy to have celebrated delivering training to 45 schools, 8 universities, major manufacturing clients and 25 UK councils across the UK from Aberdeen to Cornwall.

Please see below our direct workforce training options:

3 Hour Courses:

Do you want one of the most in depth and habit changing manual handling training courses on the market, well then look no further.

Known as our “extensive” course each 3 hour session can hold up to 15 attendees meaning we can cover up to 30 members of staff per day.

We start the course in the training room, enhancing the attendee’s knowledge of why injuries happen with a visually engaging powerpoint presentation with a serious but upbeat atmosphere as we want we keep the energy levels up. We show some short videos of people performing unsafe but natural unsafe techniques in their working environment, we also have a great video known as the cheese turner which normally makes people feel better about their jobs!

Once we have completed our classroom activities we then move onto each employee’s area, examples of this course be the freezer of the distribution centre, the far ends of the estate at a school or even simply the production line on the factory floor.  When we complete this part of the training we give the attendees a chance to bring up issues and show the trainer what they are currently doing when it comes to Manual Handling. This gives the trainer a chance to give realistic and specific guidance on safe lifting / pushing, pulling techniques. During our 3 hour course we expect to be away from the classroom for around 2 hours.

This extensive course means we have the maximum amount of time to deal with the loads your workforce are handling daily. At the end of the session we deliver a quick summary and give the workforce a chance to discuss with the trainer what has happened on-site and for the workforce to ask any further questions that may have not been covered during the practical training.

2 Hour Courses:

Have you already had an extensive manual handling training package delivered? If so then the 2 hour course is a great “refresher” for attendees that have attended our 3 hour course. We cut out most of the classroom based training, making sure we maximise the time in the employees working environment
After around 10-15 minutes in the classroom we then move onto the employees areas covering lifting, carrying, lowering, pushing, pulling & team handling. We make this as upbeat as possible and with recent scores averaging out at 3.75 out of 4 for “I had fun” we are confident that people will remember the training course they have been on.
If your workforce haven’t already had training we find this is the perfect option for your training requirements for your lower risk staff.

1 Hour Courses:

Known as our “core” course this is all practical. We can cover up to 6 members of staff per course which means we can cover up to 30 members of staff.

We will cover certain areas within the employees area and cover practical training dealing with the loads the workforce are lifting, carrying, lowering, pushing, pulling and team handling.

This is a perfect option for staff that you may have been considering for an e-learning package we find that an average price for most e-learning package is around £20-30 + VAT per person and we are significantly cheaper than this.

Additonal Options:

Tetris Training has a wealth of additional options depending on your requirements for our direct to the workforce options these include:

Certificates:

Should you want a certificate for each attendee then we can provide these at £1.50 per person. This will be issued under our traceability program and will include the course reference number, the employees reference number and the date of training.

Expiry Dates On Certificates:

Under the manual handling regulations there is no time frame in which training needs to be refreshed. We find that most companies that have expiry dates on certificates are doing this as a money making tactic. At Tetris Training we will recommend when we feel your workforce should have a refresher, but we do not put an expiry date on the certificate as we feel this is your decision not ours!

Traceability:

One of the biggest things that makes Tetris Training so unique is our traceability program This program is included free of charge with all of our training packages and is a perfect complement to our high quality training program.
Tetris Training has the desire and hunger to reduce your loss time incidents to zero. We have so many different approaches and resources available that we are confident that we can reduce, if not eliminate the need for a RIDDOR report ever again!
